3rd Annual Active Transportation Parade!

GCAT parade 2015

A Parade to Celebrate Active Transportation in our Community!

On Wednesday, July 13 at 5:30 pm, Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation (GCAT), in partnership with the Junction Neighbourhood Group and the weekly Community potluck at 47 Meadowview Avenue, is hosting a Community Celebration of Active Transportation. Our mission is to increase the quantity, quality, safety, and fun of Active Transportation in Guelph.

Join us on your bike, scooter, skateboard, or while walking for our third annual  “Active Transportation Parade.”  We will wind our way through the streets in the Junction neighbourhood (parade route link below).  Families are welcome to attend.

Celebrate your creativity by decorating your bikes and wearing costumes to celebrate your joy of community and Active Transportation! Bring your noise makers: bike bells, horns, kazoos, whistles, etc.!

Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated bicycle, as well as the best costume!

Depart 47 Meadowview at 5:30pm.

The Community Potluck meal will happen after the parade for those who wish to participate.

All are welcome. Helmet required for all riders under 18yrs old. All participants must sign a waiver in order to participate.

Goldie Park Community Garden

Community Meeting about the Community Garden today!
Sunday, April 10. 3pm-4pm at Paisley Rd School, in the Gym.
Planning is in the early stages and we want to make the garden something everyone will enjoy. Tell us your vision for the park!
Initial dreams are to create a beautiful education and demonstration garden containing native and pollinator friendly flowers and some vegetables. This will not be a veggie plot garden–those of us who live close to the garden have lots of growing potential.

Reminder: Winterfest is almost here!

Whether snow or no snow we have games and activities planned for Winterfest!

Have a look at our latest newsletter which tells you about some of the fun activities we’ve planned!

Bring your sled for tobogganing. Enjoy free hot chocolate and coffee. We’ll have a scavenger hunt and snow painting too!

At 2pm Nature Guelph will be leading a Great Backyard Bird Count workshop. It’s an introduction to bird identification followed by an adventure through the park to see how many species of birds we can find. The Annual Great Backyard Bird Count is a global event where citizens report to scientists all the birds they see in their area. In 2015 about 147,000 tally sheets were submitted from around the world!
